Frustrated Jurong West Resident Says Stair Clutter ‘Has Been There For Years’

When a resident first noticed items cluttering the staircase at Block 450 Jurong West Street 42 a few years ago, he tried to put up with it.

However, her patience began to wear thin when she noticed that more items, like bikes and plastic bags, were added to the mess.

Stomper Lim shared his concern that these items could become a potential fire hazard.

In the photos taken by Lim on November 13, three bicycles, a can of paint and a shoemaker can be seen cluttering the staircase.

“This has been going on for years. At first it was just a few things, but over the years, the disorder kept growing,” Lim said.

“I feel very uncomfortable with this view. Sometimes they even hang clothes there that completely blocks the staircase.

“I even saw them doing a mini barbecue in the area before. How can people walk like this?

“I don’t use the stairs because we have elevators, but I don’t think the area should be blocked in case of an emergency. Therefore, I informed the Jurong-Clementi City Council in the hope that the clutter will be removed.”

Stomp has contacted Jurong-Clementi City Council for more information.
