SINGAPORE – Five new coronavirus cases were confirmed as of noon on Monday (Nov. 30), bringing Singapore’s total to 58,218.

They included four imported cases that had been placed on stay-at-home notices (SHNs) upon arrival in Singapore, the Ministry of Health (MOH) said.

There was also a case in the community.

More details will be announced Monday night.

On Sunday (Nov. 29), the Health Ministry said that two people tested positive for Covid-19, out of 876 merchants in and around Tekka Center who attended community surveillance tests last Thursday.

The two cases detected in surveillance tests are likely to be past infections, as indicated by serological test results, the ministry said on Sunday. The remaining 874 people tested negative.

The first was a Singaporean woman selling lamb with a coworker at a stall in the Tekka market, the Health Ministry said on Saturday.

The second was a 41-year-old Indian national who worked as a warehouse assistant, the ministry said Sunday. He was asymptomatic and was taken to the National Center for Infectious Diseases when his test came back positive on Friday.

The man’s job involved taking inventory at warehouses on Cuff Road and delivering products to the Jothi Store and Flower Shop at 1 Campbell Lane, the Health Ministry said, adding that he does not interact with customers.

His colleague, a warehouse assistant at the warehouses, was cleaned last Thursday and tested negative.

Two other migrant workers living with the man on Cuff Road also tested negative, he added.

Seven imported cases were also announced on Sunday.

One is a holder of a long-term visit pass that arrived from Russia, while another is a holder of a student pass that arrived from India. Three others are work permit holders who came from Indonesia.

The remaining cases are holders of short-term visitation passes. One is a 39-year-old citizen of the Ivory Coast who came from Malta on a work project. The other holder of the short-term pass is a 58-year-old Belarusian citizen who came to participate in a mixed martial arts sporting event as a cornerback.

All seven had either been placed in SHN or were isolated upon arrival in Singapore, and were tested while in quarantine.

There were no cases inside the dormitories announced on Sunday, the 19th consecutive day.

The Health Ministry said there were three unrelated cases in the community last week.

With five cases discharged on Sunday, 58,109 patients have fully recovered from the disease.
