KUALA LUMPUR (THE STAR / ASIA NEWS NETWORK) – In a fit of rage, a man allegedly killed his four-year-old grandson after his attempts to rape his stepson failed in an apartment in Setapak, Kuala Lumpur.
The gruesome incident on Sunday morning (November 29) began after the 42-year-old Nigerian suspect attempted to rape his stepdaughter, the victim’s mother, but was detained by his wife and children.
“The stepson was asleep at the time and his wife and children tried to stop him. In a fit of rage, he beat everyone in the house,” said Senior Deputy Commander Nik Ros Azhan Nik Ab Hamid, head of Kuala Lumpur. Criminal Investigation Department.
“The wife and children tried to run to save themselves and called for help. Seeing them screaming for help, the suspect lifted his grandson, who was weakened, and threw him out of the main room window.”
The suspect then jumped off the same floor but survived the fall.
He was captured by residents and security guards before being handed over to the police.
Police were notified of the incident around 8 a.m. Sunday.
Investigations showed that the man lived with his 49-year-old Malaysian wife and son, four stepchildren and grandson.
A neighbor, who declined to be identified, said she had been awakened by a woman’s frantic cries for help.
“I heard a loud noise and screaming and then the wife screamed for help.
“My husband went out to see what the problem was and help, but when we saw the man outside the door looking at us, we went back inside.
“I’ve seen the boy before. This is a shock,” he said.
The neighbor said she had not heard the family fight before, adding that they were cordial when interacting with her.
Another neighbor, who also asked not to be identified, showed reporters the blood spatter on the staircase outside the apartment unit, said to be due to injuries sustained by family members while fleeing.
Traces of blood stains were seen from the third floor to the bottom floor of the staircase.
Outside, the atmosphere was bleak as police and forensic agents processed the crime scene.
Other residents continued to express their shock and grief, with many saying they knew the family and mourned the loss of such a young child.
Police said the man had been arrested and would remain in pre-trial detention, while the survivors had been sent to Kuala Lumpur Hospital for treatment.
He also urged all witnesses to come forward.
The case has been classified under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
