SINGAPORE: Singapore reported eight new cases of COVID-19 as of noon on Sunday (November 29), the Ministry of Health (MINSA) said.
Of the new infections, one case was in the community and seven were imported. Five of the new cases were asymptomatic, the Health Ministry said.
COMMUNITY CASE UNTITLED
The only Community case is that of a 41-year-old work permit holder from India working as a warehouse assistant.
It was detected in community surveillance tests of street vendors in and around Tekka Center on November 26.
A day later, he tested positive for COVID-19 and was taken to the National Center for Infectious Diseases.
The man’s serological test came back positive, indicating a “probable past infection,” the Health Ministry said. It is currently not linked to previous cases.
The 41-year-old’s job involves taking inventory at warehouses along Cuff Road and delivering products to the Jothi Store and Flower Shop at 1 Campbell Lane, the Health Ministry said, adding that he does not interact with customers. in the shop.
A warehouse assistant who usually works with him was tested on November 26 and tested negative for COVID-19.
“He lives on Cuff Road with two other migrant workers, who also tested negative for COVID-19 infection,” the Health Ministry added.
A total of 876 people were tested during community surveillance tests of merchants in and around Tekka Center on November 26.
Two tested positive, including the 41-year-old man reported Sunday. The other is a 60-year-old Singaporean woman who sells lamb at the Tekka market; it was reported as a confirmed case on Saturday.
Both cases are “probably past infections,” as positive serological test results indicate, the ministry said. The other 874 people tested negative.
“Community surveillance tests allow us to contain cryptic cases in the community early and prevent further transmission,” the Health Ministry said.
The NTUC FairPrice establishment at 301 Yishun Avenue 2 was also added to a list of public places visited by community cases of COVID-19 during their infectious period.
It was visited on November 21, between 8:50 PM and 9:55 PM.

IMPORTED CASES INCLUDE CORNERMAN FOR MMA EVENT
All imported cases were either placed on a stay-at-home notice or isolated upon arrival in Singapore, the Health Ministry said.
One of the imported cases is a 58-year-old short-term visitor pass holder who came from Belarus to participate in a mixed martial arts sporting event as a cornerback. The Ministry of Health did not specify the event.
Three of the imported cases are work permit holders currently employed in Singapore who arrived from Indonesia.
One is a holder of a long-term visit pass that arrived from Russia, while another is a holder of a student pass that arrived from India.
The remaining imported case is a short-term visiting pass holder who is an engineer on a work project in Singapore. Came from Malta.
FIVE MORE DOWNLOADED CASES
Five more cases of COVID-19 have been discharged from hospitals or community isolation facilities, bringing the number of fully recovered patients to 58,124.
There are 31 cases that are still in the hospital. Most are stable or improving and no one is in the intensive care unit.
Another 29 cases are isolated and treated in community facilities. These are people who have mild symptoms or are clinically well, but still test positive for COVID-19.
A 68-year-old man died this Friday of complications from the coronavirus. His death, reported Saturday night, is the 29th of its kind in Singapore.
The Health Ministry said the Singaporean man, known as Case 58343, had a history of hypertension and heart disease. The man traveled to Indonesia for work on March 10.
He had experienced shortness of breath since November 11 and returned to Singapore on November 17 when he was admitted to a hospital upon arrival, the Health Ministry said. His COVID-19 infection was confirmed the next day.
Singapore’s case count stands at 58,213 as of Sunday, with 29 deaths.
