SINGAPORE – Eight new coronavirus cases were confirmed as of noon on Sunday (Nov. 29), bringing Singapore’s total to 58,213.

There were seven imported cases that had been listed on stay-at-home notices upon arrival in Singapore.

Sunday’s figure also included a community case, the Ministry of Health (MINSA) said.

The ministry said that based on its investigations thus far, the case is a migrant worker residing in the community and was detected during community surveillance tests of merchants in and around Tekka Center on Thursday (Nov 26). .

“His serological test result has come back positive, indicating a probable past infection,” the Health Ministry said.

More details will be announced Sunday night.

On Saturday, the Health Ministry said that a 68-year-old man, who had a history of hypertension and heart disease, died of complications due to Covid-19.

The Singaporean is the 29th patient to die from the virus here, while 15 who tested positive have died from other causes.

He had traveled to Indonesia on March 10 for work and returned to Singapore on November 17 after experiencing shortness of breath on November 11. Arriving here, he was admitted to the hospital.

The man was confirmed to have the Covid-19 infection on November 18 and died on Friday.

The cause of death was determined to be ischemic heart disease with Covid-19, the Health Ministry said on Saturday.

The National University Hospital has reached out to the man’s family and is assisting them.

The last patient to die here from complications related to Covid-19 was a 64-year-old man, the Health Ministry reported on October 12. He was diagnosed with the coronavirus on October 4.

The Health Ministry announced six new coronavirus cases here on Saturday, including a locally transmitted community case.

The local case is that of a 60-year-old Singaporean woman selling lamb with a co-worker at a stall in the Tekka market.

She lives at 22 Yishun Street with her husband, who has been working at Mustafa Center for the past few years. She regularly visits her children who live at Bishan Street 13 and Tampines Street 86.

She was asymptomatic and was detected from Health Ministry surveillance tests of merchants in and near Tekka Center on Thursday.

The Health Ministry said all of her identified close contacts, including her family members and coworkers, have been isolated and quarantined.

Tests will be done at the beginning and end of your quarantine period to detect any asymptomatic cases.

The ministry will also conduct serological tests on the woman’s home and family contacts to determine if she could have been infected by them.

The remaining five new cases announced on Saturday were imported and placed on stay-at-home notices upon arrival in Singapore.

There were no new cases from the workers’ bedrooms on Saturday, the Health Ministry said.

With eight cases discharged on Saturday, 58,119 patients have fully recovered from the disease in Singapore.

A total of 32 patients remained in the hospital on Saturday, while 25 recovered in community facilities.

Globally, the virus outbreak, which began in December last year, has infected more than 62.2 million people. More than 1.45 million people have died.
