SINGAPORE – Five new coronavirus cases were confirmed as of noon on Monday (November 23), all of which were imported.

This means that there were no new community cases and no worker bedrooms for the thirteenth day in a row.

This is the longest stretch without a community case since the first coronavirus case was reported in Singapore on January 23.

12 days passed between the first reported case, which was imported, and the first community cases registered on February 4.

New imported cases on Monday bring Singapore’s total to 58,165.

These new patients were placed on stay-at-home notices upon arrival in Singapore, the Health Ministry said Monday night. They were also asymptomatic and were confirmed positive on Sunday.

Of the five new cases, there was one Singaporean, a 16-year-old girl who returned from India.

Three of the imported cases are work permit holders, all women, between 29 and 39 years old, who returned from Indonesia.

The last imported case is a short-term visiting pass holder. The 58-year-old man had returned from France.

Overall, the number of new cases in the community has remained low, with no new cases in the last week.

With four cases discharged on Monday, 58,056 patients have fully recovered from the disease.

A total of 36 patients remain in the hospital while 30 recover in community facilities. A patient is in critical condition in the intensive care unit.

Singapore has had 28 deaths from Covid-19 complications, while 15 who tested positive have died from other causes.

Globally, the virus outbreak, which began in December last year, has infected about 56.9 million people. More than 1.3 million people have died.
