Defiant Klopp backs Liverpool to ‘fight’ through current injury crisis

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp says his team’s injury problems will only bring the team closer together as they prepare to return to action this weekend.

The Reds have confirmed that they will be without captain Jordan Henderson and Trent Alexander-Arnold for Sunday’s meeting with Leicester due to injury. Mohamed Salah will also be absent after his positive results for COVID-19.

They join a long list, which includes the central first-choice pairing of Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez, from the players currently unavailable.

But Klopp refuses to dwell on the misfortune that hit his team on the fitness front in recent weeks. Instead, he says his team is ready to work hard for each other and get through a potentially difficult period.

“We are a unit, an adequate unit, adequate, and the more problems we have, the more united we will remain,” the German told the club’s official website.

“It was always like that and it will always be like that at this club. We do not look for excuses. We have the situation we have, we don’t like the injuries we have because it is very hard for the guys who have the injuries, but the rest are working on solutions. That is what we always do.

“We have solutions in our mind; Maybe we think we have the worst possible situation, but the season is long and we have only played eight games, so there will be a lot of problems.

“I’ve always said it, who best deals with the problems that come their way has a chance to be really successful. That’s what we try to be. “

Liverpool will not ‘give up’

Some have predicted that Liverpool’s form and its bid to retain its title will collapse after the loss of several key players.

They are currently third in the table, just one point off the top, but face Leicester at Anfield in the next position. Therefore, they could find themselves four points off the pace by the end of the weekend.

It is a difficult task for the Merseyside club, but Klopp He insists that champions will “use the situation” they find themselves in to advance further.

“I don’t think my players have to prove anything,” he added. “We always handle difficult situations very well. We will fight with everything we have and that means that if the problems get bigger, you get closer and you keep fighting.

“If anyone thinks that we will give up just before the game just because some of our best players, our very, very important players, are not available in the moment for a long, long time, then I can’t help them.

“We won’t do that, we just have to accept the situation and use the situation. So it is always in life, and so it is in our situation. “
