SINGAPORE: A new access road connecting Halus Link near Punggol and Tampines Expressway (Central Expressway / Seletar Expressway) will open on November 28.
This will help ease traffic along Punggol East, the Land Transportation Authority (LTA) said on Monday (Nov 16).
The opening of the access road marks the completion of a two-phase expansion of the Kallang-Paya Lebar Expressway and the Tampines Expressway (KPE / TPE), LTA said.
“The expanded interchange will serve new and existing developments in the city of Punggol by enhancing connectivity between KPE and TPE with Punggol Central, Pasir Ris Industrial Drive 1 and Lorong Halus,” said LTA.
The expansion project was opened in several stages starting in November 2018.
The first phase included the construction of roads, three vehicular bridges crossing Sungei Serangoon and Sungei Blukar, as well as an overpass through the TPE and other ramps and drainage works.
The second phase included the construction of a vehicular bridge crossing Sungei Serangoon, an overpass through the KPE and the TPE, as well as a highway extension from Lorong Halus.

“Since the progressive opening of the roads starting in 2018, traffic conditions have improved at TPE between Punggol Way and KPE, and the existing access points of the city of Punggol via Punggol Road and Punggol East,” said LTA .
To inform drivers of the changes, radio messages will be broadcast on LTA Traffic News. Informational and directional signs will also be posted closer to the access road opening date, LTA said.
