Singaporean Dota 2 pro player Daryl “iceiceice” Koh has joined Evil Geniuses (EG), the North American team revealed in a Facebook post on Sunday (November 15).

Iceiceice, one of Singapore’s most decorated esports players, spent two years with Fnatic, whose Dota team is based in Malaysia.

When his contract ended in September, the veteran offlaner announced that he would be taking a break and that he was considering competing in a new region.

Iceiceice’s move to North America comes just as another Dota 2 team from Southeast Asia, Adroit, disbanded and ceased operations, amid ongoing uncertainty with the Dota Pro Circuit (DPC) in the region and the pandemic. of coronavirus.

The Singaporean will replace Russian player Roman “RAMZES666” Kushnarev, as offlaner for EG.

EG benched Ramzes earlier this month to facilitate his return to the CIS region, where he has joined former Virtus.pro teammates and former EG midlaner superstar Sumail “SumaiL” Hassan on the new CIS super team, Just Error.

Iceiceice will be the second player from Southeast Asia to move to North America and EG, joining the team’s current Filipino midlaner, Abed Azel “Abed” Yusop.

EG continues to employ arguably the most diverse team in Dota, now with a Singaporean joining the ranks of a Filipino, a Canadian in Artour “Arteezy” Babaev, a Dane in Andreas “Cr1t-” Nielsen and an Israeli in Tal “Fly “Aizik.

This move also marks the third region that iceiceice will play in in her expansive and globe-trotting career, having played in China from 2013 to 2016 before returning to compete in Southeast Asia.

EG has been relatively inactive as the DPC suspension continues, with its last appearance in an online event in the OMEGA League European Immortal Division in September after a three-month hiatus.

EG last played with its full lineup at DOTA Summit 12 in March, just before the coronavirus pandemic suspended DPC.

The team has played with at least two substitutes since then, as Abed and Ramzes had not been able to join the team due to travel restrictions imposed by the pandemic.

Abed and Iceiceice are expected to join their fellow EG once the DPC restarts early next year.
