SINGAPORE: To meet the growing interest in landscaping, the National Parks Board (NParks) said on Friday (November 13) that more than 280 new orchard plots in four parks will be open for application on November 29.
The new parcels are located in Bedok Reservoir Park, East Coast Park, Lower Seletar Reservoir Park and one-north Park.
“The plots are part of the 1,000 orchard plots that will be ready in 18 parks and gardens in Singapore by 2021,” he said.
The public may request the parcels from 10 am on November 29 to 10 pm on December 6. Applications will be made online and parcels will be assigned by computerized voting.
Each household can vote and lease only one parcel at a time, and the applicant for the home must be 18 years old, according to the NParks website.
So far, the public has subscribed a total of 1,436 parcels.

The public is also encouraged to apply for the parcels closest to their residence, NParks said.
The total number of plots in each park are listed below:
Each parcel consists of a raised planter measuring 2.5m by 1m and will be leased for three years at S $ 57 per year, not including GST.
Successful applicants will be notified of the outcome of their application within three months of the closing date, NParks said.
“The Parcel Orchard Plan is part of Singapore’s vision to grow our City in the Wild by providing more spaces for gardening in the community,” he said.
NParks added that he wants to encourage more people to garden as a way to participate and bond in the community, as well as to bring people closer to nature for “health and wellness.”
The online application form, location maps, and more information about the orchard plots can be found on the NParks website.
