Team Nigma captain Kuro “KuroKy” Salehi Takhasomi has returned to the team’s active roster after a five-month hiatus to treat an arm injury.

KuroKy announced his comeback in a video posted to Nigma’s official Twitter account early Saturday (November 14), revealing that he has been dealing with problems with his arms and hands “for a couple of years now.”

“It just came from all the polishing I’ve been doing. I never really took proper breaks, never really took good care of him, and the [coronavirus] The situation gave me the opportunity to slow down and take good care of myself. In the last few months I have been on the road to recovery, ”said KuroKy.

Nigma first announced that KuroKy was taking a break to tend to his injury in July.. He missed four tournaments in total, with Nigma Roman “rmN-” Paley’s coach replacing him during that span.

Nigma did well during the first few months of KuroKy’s absence, winning Season 2 of OGA Dota PIT EU / CIS Online and finishing third in the OMEGA League European Immortal Division.

However, they have struggled a lot since then, finishing seventh to eighth in back-to-back tournaments at Dota PIT Online Season 3 and ESL One Germany Online 2020.

KuroKy rejoins Nigma just in time for the EPIC League, where he and his team will compete against nine other teams from Europe and the CIS for the bulk of a prize pool of $ 500,000 through mid-December.

“I just started scrubbing with the team, we’ve been practicing the last few days and I feel very good, the guys feel very good. We are very excited to be able to play together again and we look forward to bringing you inspiring games, ”said KuroKy.

KuroKy is one of the living legends of Dota, boasting a career that began in the original Dota mod for WarCraft III and has spanned over a decade.

He is one of only two players, the other being Team Secret’s Clement “Puppey” Ivanov, who has played on all versions of The International (TI).

He played in three TI finals (2013, 2017 and 2019), winning the Aegis of Champions in 2017 when Nigma was still playing under the Team Liquid banner in the first 3-0 sweep in tournament history, over Newbee.

Team Nigma seeks expansion, other titles

In addition to announcing his return to competitive play, KuroKy also shed some light on the situation for Team Nigma.

He revealed that the team is currently focusing on promoting esports in the Middle East and is looking to “expand into different territory” as well as other esports titles.

“It’s been around a year since we made Team Nigma and we are quite happy with how things are going. Obviously our entire plan slowed down due to Covid-19, but overall we are satisfied with how things are going, ”KuroKy said.

Kuroky and Nigma will be looking to get back in shape over the next several months in preparation for the highly anticipated restart of the Dota Pro Circuit early next year and the restart of the TI10 next August.
