I’d go to the dormitory at the National University of Singapore (NUS) to go through the washing machines or unattended clothes, looking for women’s underwear.
Goh An Soon did this for six weeks between December 19, 2018 and February 1 of last year, trespassing King Edward VII Hall eight times.
He took various articles of clothing on five occasions.
He was captured after a staff member in the residential hall saw him act suspiciously and confronted him.
Yesterday, Goh, now 20, pleaded guilty to two combined counts of burglary and dishonest misappropriation of property. The charges covered multiple crimes.
Goh was a student at the time of the crimes, but The Straits Times previously reported that he was not enrolled in NUS.
Deputy Prosecutor (DPP) Tan Pei Wei said Goh was checking the washing machines in the hallway laundry areas, or among the clothes that were being hung to dry in the common hall, looking for underwear.
The DPP added that Goh claimed that he would take the underwear to pantry rooms in neighboring blocks to look at them closely, before leaving them there.
A laundry bag she took on January 16 of last year also contained men’s socks, towels and underwear.
On a later occasion, he also took a wallet from a pantry down the hall and socks that were hung along the common hall.
On January 24 of last year, a NUS campus security investigation officer filed a police report following the series of incidents in the hallway.
Goh was captured about a week later and most of the items were recovered.
Yesterday, District Judge May Mesenas requested a report to assess Goh’s suitability for parole.
His attorney, Mr. Andy Yeo, told the judge that his client has been attending regular counseling sessions since January.
On $ 8,000 bail, Goh will be sentenced on December 21.
