The Associated Press has called for the US presidential race for Joe Biden, with Kamala Harris becoming the first vice president in US history, while Donald Trump becomes one of the few single-term US presidents.

President-elect Biden has taken to social media to post a statement that says, “I will be a president for all Americans, whether they vote for me or not.”

Harris also issued a statement on Twitter, stating that the election is about “much more” than her and Biden, but rather about “the soul of America and our willingness to fight for it.”
Former US President Barack Obama issued a statement on social media congratulating Biden and Harris.
“We are fortunate that Joe has what it takes to be president and already behaves that way,” the statement said. “Because when you enter the White House in January, you will face a series of extraordinary challenges that no incoming president has ever faced: a raging pandemic, an uneven economy and justice system, a democracy at risk and a climate in danger.”

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau congratulated Biden and Harris on their victory, and Trudeau said he is “eager” to work together and build on the close ties between the two countries.
