The woman who led a boycott campaign against local blogger Xiaxue has now retracted her remarks and expressed remorse for her actions.
Elouise Quek posted a Twitter thread yesterday (November 4) in what appears to be a statement of regret as a result of a legal battle between the two parties.
Sometime in July this year, Quek developed and publicized an email template as part of a concerted effort to “demonetize” the social media influencer, who had sparked controversy at the time for her comments against the Sengkang GRC MP Raeesah Khan during the general election period.
The comments, in addition to Xiaxue’s past controversial posts about Islam, Bangladeshi migrant workers, obesity and transgender people, sparked an online campaign against the 36-year-old influencer.
For his part, Quek was behind a Google doc containing a template message to be sent to brands and companies that endorsed or used Cheng’s services, which was widely disseminated and led to some of them abandoning their sponsorships and publicly distance themselves from Xiaxue.
In response, Xiaxue waged a legal battle against Quek, invoking the Protection Against Harassment Act. With the help of the law firm Eugene Thuraisingam LLP, Quek defended himself against the proceedings, according to Coconuts Singapore.
But now, Quek has admitted that some of his social media posts were “fake.”

“I understand and realize that the allegations have caused Xiaxue to suffer financial losses and I am sorry,” Quek wrote, adding that he had the opportunity to sit down and listen to the blogger’s views.
“I now accept that some of my posts were fake because they were based on posts that were selectively taken out of context.”

It also appears that Quek can no longer comment against the blogger.

Since then, Xiaxue has issued a statement regarding Quek’s public apology, mentioning that he is “very happy with the outcome.” The blogger also revealed that she successfully secured two expedited protection orders against Quek.
However, she disagreed with netizens calling her a stalker and accusing her of silencing Quek.
“This is ridiculous. I do not know this person nor have I done anything to him personally. However, when she struck the first blow by causing great distress to me, my clients, and my employees, am I the bully? Is this a joke? “She wrote in an Instagram post.
