A full-time national serviceman from the Singapore Civil Defense Force (SCDF) stole an ambulance and drove it into traffic to visit his girlfriend.

Yesterday Haziq Syamim Esa, 21, pleaded guilty to one count of robbery, cheating and reckless injury.

Five other charges will be taken into consideration during sentencing.

Haziq was attached to the Jalan Bahar Civil Defense Academy Complex Fire Rescue Training Center, but was off course due to unfit for duty.

At approximately 3 a.m. on March 12, he cycled to the Sengkang Fire Station and told the sentry that he needed to speak to an Emergency Medical Services (EMS) officer.

The sentry allowed him to enter while Haziq was wearing an EMS shirt.

He saw a parked ambulance and pulled it out of the station after activating the flashing lights.

According to court documents, he drove him against the flow of traffic around 3:20 a.m. M. By Jalan Besar Road.

At approximately 4:45 a.m., he entered his girlfriend’s condo and lied to the guard who was there for a medical emergency.

SCDF staff discovered the ambulance missing around 4.05am and dispatched several firefighters in a Red Rhino to locate it.

They found him at the condo and detained Haziq.

On May 2, after midnight, Haziq drove a rented car to a giant hypermarket.

A taxi driver approached him and asked if he was promoting, which was illegal, causing the two men to have a dispute.

The taxi driver tried to prevent the defendant from walking away, but Haziq swerved towards him and hit his hip before walking away.

The victim suffered scratches on his right elbow when he fell.

Yesterday the court heard that Haziq has a history of schizophrenic disorder.

He has requested reports to assess his suitability for parole and a mandatory treatment order.

He is expected to be sentenced on December 11.

For theft, you can be imprisoned for up to seven years and fined.

For cheating, you can be jailed for up to three years and fined.
