WASHINGTON (AP) – US President Donald Trump alleged Wednesday (Nov. 4) that there had been “surprise ballot dumps” in the states where he had led Democrat Joe Biden in the White House race.
“Last night he was leading, often solidly, in many key states, in almost every case controlled and controlled by the Democrats,” Trump tweeted. “Then one by one, they began to magically disappear as the surprise dumps were counted.”
Twitter has called Trump’s comments “misleading.”
He had also taken a similar action against a previous tweet from the president.
Trump offered no evidence for his “ballot” allegation and there have been no reports of wrongdoing.

The tracks in numerous states have shifted back and forth between candidates as votes are counted.
Trump, who prematurely declared himself the winner of Tuesday’s election, has spent months denouncing mail-in ballots, making unsubstantiated claims that they are susceptible to fraud.
In all U.S. presidential elections, it typically takes several days for officials to process provisional and mail ballots. The additional ballot count is not a surprise, and neither is the change to Biden, which was widely predicted and widely discussed in the run-up to the vote.

Biden’s campaign said Wednesday that the former US vice president was on track to win the 2020 election, with victories expected in the battle states of Michigan, Wisconsin and Pennsylvania.
Campaign manager Jennifer O’Malley Dillon said she expected the former US vice president to have more than 270 votes in the electoral college later Wednesday. He told reporters that he believed Biden had already won Wisconsin and was expected to win Nevada.
Mail-in ballot use skyrocketed in this election amid the COVID-19 pandemic and the U.S. Elections Project said a record 65.2 million Americans voted by mail.
