José Mourinho declines to say whether Tottenham can win the Premier League title and has identified when a judgment can be made on his side.

The Spurs have been one of the most impressive teams of the season so far. They could finish the weekend at the top of the table if they beat Brighton and other results come out in their favor.

But they enter the game after a sobering Europa League loss to Royal Antwerp on Thursday. A frustrated Mourinho gave his players the two barrels after.

Mourinho’s men could be quite on top by now had they not lost four points from goals conceded in injury time.

However, the Portuguese makes no excuses and insists that it is not until after Christmas that qualification counts for nothing.

“I think the table now doesn’t mean much” Mourinho said. “I think for February, March, you look at the table and you understand the reality of the competition.

“A part of that special season with a special Leicester. A part of that you get into February or March and the reality of the teams is expressed on the table. You judge at this point, not yet.

“We had great results in the Premier League. But at home we lost too many points and with these points we would be there but it is not a goal.

“The objective is to win against Brighton. We know, as you said before, that anything can happen in the Premier League.

Mourinho unconcerned about the house shape

If the Spurs are going to fight for honors, then they need to fix their home form.

While they have won all three away games, scoring 12 goals, they have yet to win at their own patch, mainly due to poor performance against Everton and late goals conceded against Newcastle and West Ham.

“I’m not that worried about the home record,” Mourinho said. “I’m concerned about playing well and getting points and against Everton. The frustration was that we probably deserved, I think, a point. But we didn’t play well and in other games the feeling was different.

“We played very well against Newcastle, we played very well against West Ham. So let’s try to play very well against Brighton and when you play very well you usually win. So let’s try.”
