The Ajax central emerges as the main objective of the Liverpool central defender

[ad_1]

Liverpool are preparing a January bid for a towering Ajax center-back, while Arsenal and Chelsea have made their moves for a Juventus star, according to transfer rumors on Sunday.

Liverpool They are reportedly monitoring Ajax central defender Perr Schuurs following his recent outstanding performance in the Champions League against them.

Schuurs has has already been tried at Anfield when he was 17, and although he did well, it was considered best to leave him in Holland with Fortuna Sittard and continue to monitor his progress.

The towering 6-foot-3-inch stopper, whose composure and authority have been compared to the talisman of the Reds Virgil van Dijk, became captain Fortuna Sittard as a teenager before joining Ajax.

And following Matthijs de Ligt’s departure for Juventus, Schuurs has earned a regular place in Erik ten Hag’s team.

The 20-year-old has also been called up by the Netherlands, although he has yet to make his senior team debut.

Ironically, he could receive that honor in the next round of matches due to Van Dijk’s long-term injury.

Reds boss Jurgen Klopp was said to be very impressed with Schuurs’ display as Liverpool opened their Champions League campaign with a 1-0 win in Amsterdam.

And now the Sunday Mirror claims there could be an offer in the January transfer window.

They will also get to get a close look at Schuurs again when he and Ajax arrive at Anfield in the second leg of the Champions League group stage on December 1.

Schuurs is another name added to a long list of Liverpool defensive targets, following Van Dijk’s ACL injury.

That’s despite Klopp admitting he’s happy with the options he still has at the club, with the young Nat Phillips impresses alongside Joe Gomez in Saturday’s 3-1 win over West Ham.
