QUEBEC CITY: Quebec City police arrested a man early Sunday (November 1) on suspicion of killing two people and injuring five others in a shooting near the provincial legislature on Halloween.

The attacks occurred in the city’s historic Old Quebec neighborhood.

The man, who was not identified, was arrested shortly before 1 am and had been “transported to the hospital for evaluation,” he said.

Provincial police previously said they were looking for a man dressed in medieval clothing and armed with a knife that has left “multiple victims.”

Police said the suspect is in his 20s and confirmed that two were killed and five others were injured. There is no information on a possible motive for the attacks.

All five survivors injured in the riot had suffered injuries of varying severity, he said.

Police have asked city residents to remain inside with their doors closed while the investigation is underway.
