SINGAPORE – The new Sengkang City Council (SKTC) has fixed an IT issue that prevented it from receiving cash payments for Conservation Services and Charges at its offices on Wednesday.

The problem was discovered after SKTC took over full management of properties in Sengkang GRC on Wednesday (October 28) that were previously under two city councils run by the People’s Action Party.
In a statement on Facebook late Wednesday, SKTC said city hall staff discovered at 8 am that morning that “the settings for the front-end collection systems were not in place.”
As a result, the city council was unable to accept cash payments for S&CC. The issue was not resolved at 6pm on Wednesday.
“During our engagements with the existing IT vendor for the City Hall Management System (TCMS), we were assured of the functionality of the system. However, SKTC staff noted at 8 AM this morning that the configurations for input collection systems in place, “the statement said.
He added that SKTC was “working closely with the IT provider to restore the operational functionality of the TCMS as soon as possible.”
The City Council also apologized to the neighbors for the inconvenience they caused.
Sengkang GRC, with more than 120,000 voters, is made up in part of the former Punggol East SMC and the Sengkang Central division of Pasir Ris-Punggol GRC, both managed by the Pasir Ris-Punggol City Council.
The group’s representation constituency also comprises parts of Sengkang West SMC, which was managed by the Ang Mo Kio City Council.
SKTC formally took over the management and maintenance of these areas on Wednesday.

SKTC said in a separate statement Wednesday that it would continue to work with EM Services and CPG Facilities Management, the two management agent firms that have been managing the properties.

PAP city councils had said Tuesday that arrangements had been made for residents who now pay their S&CC through Giro or other recurring payment schemes to continue to do so without interruption.
Both councils wished SKTC the best in its efforts to serve the residents of Sengkang.
In the July general election, the WP team won 52.12 percent of the vote in Sengkang GRC.
