SINGAPORE: Sengkang City Council (SKTC) said on Wednesday night (October 28) that it was unable to receive cash payments at its offices for service and maintenance charges due to IT problems.
The Workers’ Party (WP) took over the leadership of Sengkang GRC on Wednesday, following the handover of several properties that were under town halls led by the Popular Action Party.
Sengkang GRC comprises the Buangkok, Compassvale and Rivervale districts, formerly administered by the Pasir Ris-Punggol City Council, and the Anchorvale District, formerly under the Sengkang West SMC and administered by the Ang Mo Kio City Council.

In a statement on its Facebook page late Wednesday, SKTC said it has been “actively engaging” with the existing IT provider for the City Council Management System (TCMS) prior to the handover, to “ensure continuity of the IT services “.

As of 6 p.m. Wednesday, SKTC was still unable to receive cash payments at its offices for maintenance and service charges.
The city council apologized and said it was working with the IT provider to restore the operational functionality of the TCMS as soon as possible, adding that it will provide an additional update for residents once it is available.
WP ASSUMES THE MANAGEMENT
The new Sengkang City Hall will be jointly managed by EM Services and CPG Facilities Management, the city council said in a statement posted on its Facebook page on Wednesday morning.
“Both administrative agents have affirmed their commitment to SKTC and that they will work closely together to provide the highest standards of property management service to the residents of Sengkang,” the city council said Wednesday morning.
“The residents of Sengkang GRC can expect a smooth delivery and continuity in the provision of municipal services in Sengkang City.”
The Pasir Ris-Punggol City Council said Tuesday that it has served part of the Sengkang City Council since its formation on July 30.
Both municipalities have been “cooperating amicably in the transfer, in accordance with the guidelines set by the Ministry of National Development”, added the Pasir Ris-Punggol City Council.
In the July general election, a WP team won the newly formed Sengkang GRC with 52.12 percent of the vote.
