Sengkang GRC, with over 120,000 voters, is made up in part of the former Punggol East SMC and the Pasir Ris-Punggol GRC Sengkang Central division, both managed by the Pasir Ris-Punggol City Council.

The group’s representation constituency is also made up of parts of Sengkang West SMC, which was managed by the Ang Mo Kio City Council.

The municipalities control, manage, maintain and improve the common areas of the residential and commercial properties of their municipalities for the residents.

In the July general elections, the Workers’ Party (WP) team won 52.12 percent of the vote in Sengkang GRC.

PAP city councils also said that arrangements have been made for residents who now pay their maintenance and service charges through Giro or other recurring payment schemes to continue to do so without interruption.

According to the law, municipalities have up to 90 days from their constitution to take over the management of the areas that are transferred to them.

SKTC was one of the 17 city councils that were formed on July 30, which means that it must take over the management of the transferred areas starting today.

The properties transferred to SKTC by the Pasir Ris-Punggol City Council comprise blocks 201A to 299C in the Compassvale area, blocks 101 to 197 in the Rivervale area and blocks 121C to 282C in Sengkang Central and Sengkang East.

Ang Mo Kio City Council transferred blocks 301A to 356B in the Anchorvale and Sengkang East Way area.

Both councils wished SKTC the best in its efforts to serve the residents of Sengkang.

In its statement, the Pasir Ris-Punggol City Council also thanked the residents of Sengkang for their support and said they hope they will continue to work with SKTC in caring for the people and the city.
