Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has hinted that Manchester United will keep an eye on RB Leipzig defender Dayot Upamecano when they meet in the Champions League.
After beating PSG in their opening group stage game, United return to European action on Wednesday. They host a Leipzig who also won on the first day.
It will give United a good chance to see Upamecano in action. The defender has been linked to a move to Old Trafford in recent months to ease his worries behind.
Neither Victor Lindelof nor Eric Bailly have completely convinced Harry Maguire’s first-choice partner, and even the captain himself has had his own struggles lately.
Therefore, Upamecano has become a possible target of the Red Devils. However, Regular Champions League football seems to be essential in persuading the player to join.

The United manager wanted to respect Upamecano’s situation in Leipzig, but admitted he was looking forward to seeing him “up close.”
Solskjaer said: “There are always rumors and speculation about good players for Manchester United.
“I have always tried to respect that they are players from other teams and I do not want to comment on all the players with whom we are linked.
“But as tomorrow he plays against us, I know he is a very good player and tomorrow we can see him up close.”
Upamecano has also been suggested as a target for United rival Liverpool, while Virgil van Dijk is injured.. However, the Reds may not sign any replacements in January.
Solskjaer sets points goal for Champions League
United are looking to progress in the Champions League this year as they weren’t even in the competition last season.
They reached the semi-finals of the Europa League, but now they are looking to reestablish themselves in the most important tournament in Europe.
Solskjaer knows that it can never be taken for granted that they will leave the group, so he has set himself a point target for his six games.
He revealed: “Our goal is to get to 10 points as quickly as possible, and tomorrow night we will focus on all three points.”
