Former Minister of State for Transportation Lam Pin Min Joins Car Rental Company Lumens as Senior Advisor

SINGAPORE: Former Minister of State for Transport and Member of Parliament, Lam Pin Min, has joined Lumens, a private car rental company, as a senior advisor.

Dr. Lam was part of the People’s Action Party team that lost to the Workers’ Party in the newly formed Sengkang Group Representation Unit (GRC) in the general elections on July 10. He was previously a deputy for the Sengkang West single-member constituency.

On Tuesday (October 27), Dr. Lam said he was “pleased” to join Lumens in a Facebook post.

“I am pleased to have met the professional team and motivated this morning to better understand their vision, aspiration and challenges in today’s increasingly complex environment,” said Dr. Lam.

“And I look forward to working with the team to drive business development and growth for Lumens in the industry.”

The CNA has requested further comments from Dr. Lam.

Founded in 2014, Lumens is a car rental company for private rental service and is a fleet partner of Grab.

In a Facebook post, Lumens welcomed Dr. Lam and said he would help the company “build and expand its key business sectors” and “strengthen (its) partnerships with key stakeholders.”

An ophthalmologist by training, Dr. Lam rejoined the private sector last month when he was appointed executive director and director of the pediatric ophthalmology and adult strabismus service at Eagle Eye Center.

In the July 10 elections, Dr. Lam ran alongside former minister in Prime Minister Ng Chee Meng’s office, Mr. Amrin Amin and new candidate Raymond Lye in Sengkang GRC.

The Workers’ Party team, consisting of Ms. He Ting Ru, Dr. Jamus Lim, Ms. Raeesah Khan and Mr. Louis Chua, won the GRC with 52.13 percent of the vote.
