SINGAPORE: Despite the COVID-19 outbreak, students will be able to collect their national test results in person this year, but they are expected to observe safe handling measures.

In a joint press release on Tuesday (Oct 27), the Ministry of Education (MOE) and the Singapore Examinations and Assessment Board (SEAB) said that they “recognize that being able to collect your exam results in person is a part important of the educational journey for many students. ”

“It gives them the opportunity to be with their classmates and consult with their teachers about their next steps, if necessary. As such, arrangements will be made for the school’s pupils to return to their respective schools on the day of the publication of the results, to collect their results from their teachers personally, “they added.

Students will need to register through SafeEntry and be screened for fever and flu-like symptoms.

To avoid congestion, this year’s results collection will take place in small groups in individual classrooms, rather than in large, crowded places like the school room.

Candidates for the Primary School Completion Exam (PSLE), who are younger and may need more support, may be accompanied by a parent or guardian. However, the parent or guardian will have to wait in the designated common areas while their child or ward receives the results in the classroom.

For GCE level exam candidates, only students will be allowed to enter the school.

The exact dates for the publication of exam results will be confirmed approximately one week before the actual publication day. The tentative release dates are as follows:

As with current practice, private candidates will be notified of their results by mail. The results sheet and certificates will be mailed to the postal address provided by these candidates.

Students will also be able to view their test results online on the day the respective results are posted. This can be done through SEAB’s results posting system on its website.

School candidates should not return to school to collect their results if they are unwell, or are under a quarantine order, stay-at-home notice, or leave of absence on the day of release.

Instead, they should view their results online and collect the physical copy of their results at a later date, the MOE and SEAB said.

STUDENTS MAY APPOINT A POWER OF ATTORNEY TO COLLECT THE EXAM RESULTS

Candidates who are unable to collect their results at school may designate a proxy to collect a physical copy of their results, as well as Secondary Option Form 1, Joint Admission Exercise Form, Polytechnic Foundation Program form, or the Joint Admission Exercise form on your behalf.

If you are unable to designate a proxy to collect your results, you can contact your school for assistance in submitting the results and related forms.

Candidates can access the SEAB results posting system with a system generated password issued by SEAB or with their SingPass. PSLE candidates will receive a system generated password issued by SEAB through their schools beginning November 12.

GCE-level candidates who are eligible for SingPass are encouraged to activate their SingPass in advance. Candidates who are not eligible for SingPass will receive a password generated by the SEAB system by email a few days before the publication of the results.

Further details will be provided in the respective announcements regarding the release dates of the GCE level exam results.

MOE and SEAB said they will continue to closely monitor the COVID-19 situation and provide updates if there are further changes to the arrangements for the release of this year’s results.
