SINGAPORE: Residents will now be able to collect their TraceTogether tokens only from community centers in their own districts, the Smart Nation and Digital Government Office (SNDGO) said in a press release late on Monday (October 26).
Residents had been able, as of Monday, to collect their tokens at community centers outside their own districts.
Starting Tuesday, collection will be restricted to community centers in the residents’ constituency. Residents can find information about their designated collection points on the TokenGoWhere website.
“All electoral districts will be served in due course. Therefore, we urge the public to wait for the collection exercise to begin in their respective constituency, ”said SNDGO.
Details on the collection centers’ opening hours will be released at a later date, he added.
The TraceTogether program, comprising both the app and the token, aims to enhance Singapore’s contract tracking efforts.
WATCH: About half of Singapore’s population now uses TraceTogether
TraceTogether helps contact trackers identify people who have been in close proximity to COVID-19 cases during their infectious period, while SafeEntry helps COVID-19 patients remember the places they have been so that authorities can detect possible groups.
SNDGO announced last week that SafeEntry, exclusive to TraceTogether, will be phased out in popular locations, including workplaces, schools, shopping centers, food and beverage outlets, and hotels by the end of the year. This transition is vital. Singapore is preparing to resume events on a larger scale and further reopen its economy, he said.
When TraceTogether-only SafeEntry is implemented, visitors will no longer be able to enter by scanning QR codes with phone cameras, using SingPass Mobile, or scanning their personal IDs.
Instead, they will have to use the TraceTogether app to scan the location’s QR code or allow entry staff to scan the QR code on their TraceTogether token.
“SafeEntry only from TraceTogether will apply after everyone who needs a token has had a chance to collect one,” SNDGO said Tuesday.
“You don’t need to collect the token if you are already using the TraceTogether app or can download it,” he added.
