SINGAPORE – The Ministry of Health (MINSA) confirmed 10 new cases of COVID-19 in Singapore as of Friday (October 23) at noon, bringing the country’s total cases to 57,951.
The 10 new cases are imported, including a one-year-old girl, marking the fifth consecutive day without locally transmitted COVID-19 infections.
All of them are also asymptomatic and are detected proactively, the Ministry of Health said.
Of them, one is a Singaporean who returned from the US, while six are work pass and permit holders currently working here and came from Bangladesh, Russia, the Philippines and Switzerland.
The remaining three cases are two-dependent pass holders, including the baby who arrived from the United Arab Emirates and another case from France, and the student pass holder who also arrived from France.
All the cases had been included in the stay-at-home notice upon arrival here and were tested while the notice was being delivered.
MINSA noted that the number of new cases in the community has decreased from four in the previous week to two in the last week.
He added that the number of unrelated cases in the community has risen from none in the previous week to two cases in the last week.
99% of all cases have recovered; none in ICU
With three more patients discharged from hospitals or community isolation facilities on Friday, 57,832 cases, or 99.8 percent of the total, have fully recovered from the infection.
Most of the 52 hospitalized cases are stable or improving, while none are in critical condition in the intensive care unit.
A total of 39 patients with mild symptoms or who are clinically well but still test positive are isolated and cared for in community facilities.
In addition to 28 patients who died from complications of COVID-19, another 15 who tested positive for the virus were determined to have died from unrelated causes, including three whose deaths were attributed to a heart attack and another four whose deaths were attributed to coronary heart disease. . heart disease.
