Like lightning from the blue, a literally buzzing golf ball veered off its intended path and struck a passing woman on the head.

The maid, who was visiting Changi Jurassic Mile with her employer’s family last night (October 22), immediately fell to her knees, crying as she held her head in pain.

Where did the golf ball come from? Tanah Merah Country Club’s Garden Course, the woman’s employer Derek Yap claimed in a Facebook post he wrote that night.

“The golf course was literally next to the exhibit, along the entire Jurassic Mile of Changi,” he said.

Fortunately for his family, a security officer stationed nearby saw what had happened and quickly called for help.

Their supervisor arrived at the scene shortly after and guided them to the end of the walkway, where they waited for an ambulance to arrive.

A check-up by the doctor found that the maid sustained a bruised head injury. They sent her home with instructions to check her condition.

According to Yap, an arrival experience manager at Changi Airport Group (CAG) explained that the possibility of such incidents occurred has been raised in the past, and there were suggestions to erect nets to protect the public from lost golf balls.

However, the manager stated that the decision was vetoed as “the top management of the Tanah Mera Country Club Garden Course ensured that the golf balls will not hit the public due to the direction of the wind.”

While the family was informed that this was the first of such an incident, a netizen intervened and said they were nearly victims of another lost golf ball last week.

The ball hit the dinosaur exhibit they were walking past and they managed to escape unscathed.

For now, Yap suggested that visitors carry some kind of head protection, such as a helmet or an umbrella, until “some kind of protection” is put on.

“Keep your loved ones informed, as many more will visit this new attraction in the coming weeks. [sic]”
