The 45-year-old man, who had allegedly thrown two glass bottles from his unit in Block 703 Yishun Avenue 5, was arrested on Tuesday (October 20) under the Mental Health Act and for the crime of reckless act that caused harm. , the police confirmed.

The bottles had been thrown from “a high floor” around 6 p.m. that day, a resident recounted in multiple Instagram posts.

He then reported the matter to his city council, which called the police for help, he said.

A 32-year-old woman suffered a cut on her leg from one of the bottles, police said.

She was treated by a paramedic, but did not want to be admitted to the hospital because her injuries were not serious, a witness told Shin Min Daily News.

When hired by the police, the man refused to open the door and locked himself inside the unit for two hours. He also threatened to hurt himself.

To ensure the man’s safety, officers from the Special Operations Command forced entry into the unit. Rescue teams from the SCDF Disaster Rescue and Assistance Team were also on standby, while three life-saving air packs were deployed at the foot of the building.
