SINGAPORE – Prices of certificates of entitlement (COE) ended mostly higher in the last tender on Wednesday (October 21), the last before the next three-month installment begins in November.

The COE price for cars up to 1,600cc and 130bhp ended at $ 37,334, up from $ 36,534 two weeks ago. The COE price for cars over 1,600 cc or 130 bhp closed at $ 40,990, just over $ 40,690.

The premium for Open COE, which can be used for any type of vehicle except motorcycles but ends predominantly for larger cars, ended at $ 39,889, down from $ 40,301.

The COE price of commercial vehicles, which has been trending to its highest level in more than two years, ended at $ 33,778, just over $ 33,089.

The motorcycle premium ended at $ 7,300, down from $ 7,451.

Industry observers estimate that the increase in the COE price for cars up to 1,600cc can be attributed to a lower supply of certificates in the new installment starting next month.

However, the COE supply for the other two categories used for automobiles will be higher, which may explain the drop in the premium for the Open category.
