Since the launch of a new route connecting Changi Airport Terminal 2 and East Coast Park on October 11, many eager visitors have flocked east to see the latest attraction on the sunny island.
With the route spanning 3.5 km and bike rentals available at both ends of the road, it’s no wonder the two-wheeler has been the popular mode of transportation for many people.
However, one cyclist expressed concern after realizing that there is a particularly slippery curve along the road, where at least five cyclists have slipped and fallen on a rainy morning.
Speaking with Lianhe Zaobao, the cyclist recounted how he and four other cyclists slipped and fell in exactly the same place on the road on Sunday (October 18).
“I was having breakfast at a nearby coffee shop around 8 in the morning when it suddenly started to rain. The rain subsided after 15 minutes, so I started cycling home.
“However, just as I passed the curve in front of the Terminal 4 parking lot, the road was so slippery that I fell,” he told the Chinese newspaper.
[[nid:499394]]As a result, he suffered scratches on both arms.
Less than five minutes later, he saw another cyclist passing by falling in the same spot.
A passerby told him that three other cyclists had stumbled upon his attractions in the area that morning.
The cyclist observed eight of those curves along the road in the vicinity of the Changi Airport parking lot alone. While there are speed bumps installed before corners, the rain had made the road too slippery for the bike tires to have a good grip.
A Zaobao reporter shared the same observations, although the road was dry during his visit, noting that it would be safer if cyclists dismounted their bikes before turning around.
