By the end of December, registering with the TraceTogether app or the token will be mandatory in places like restaurants, workplaces, schools and shopping malls as Singapore prepares for phase three of its reopening.
This means that no one will be able to enter these locations by scanning the SafeEntry QR codes with your phone’s cameras, or through the SingPass mobile app or the barcodes on your NRIC.
SafeEntry, the nation’s digital registry system, is now mandatory in all of these places.
Instead, they must use the TraceTogether app or the token.
The application includes a function to scan SafeEntry QR codes, while the tokens have a QR code with a similar function.
Mandatory use of TraceTogether will begin October 26 in theaters.
During a virtual press conference yesterday, the multi-ministerial working group addressing Covid-19 said the measure aims for at least 70 percent of Singapore’s population to participate in the TraceTogether program, a tracking technology. of contacts that facilitates the detection of people who had been very close to patients with Covid-19.
Having a 70 percent usage rate is one of the conditions that must be met for Singapore to enter phase three, said Education Minister Lawrence Wong, who is co-chairing the working group.

“When we have a higher acceptance rate of TT (TraceTogether) and a broader implementation of SafeEntry only for TT … and the community transmission during this period is still low, then there is a good chance that we will enter phase three … by the end of the year ”, said the minister.
Other venues with mandatory TraceTogether registration will include live performances, business events and places of worship with more than 100 people, said Smart Nation and Digital Government Group.
Wong noted that only about 2.5 million or 45 percent of the population is currently using the TraceTogether app or token.
“We would like it to be higher, so that TraceTogether is effective,” he said, adding that the distribution of tokens will be further expanded before they become mandatory.
The tokens are distributed in 38 Community Centers (CC). By the end of next month, TraceTogether tokens will be available in 108 CCs across the island.
