The right-most lane of a highway is not the most ideal place to ride a bike, especially at night when visibility is low.
But that was exactly where Stomper Gabriel he met a cyclist, with whom he had a near-heart attack.
Gabriel, who shared dash cam footage of the incident, said it occurred along the Ayer Rajah Expressway (AYE) on Saturday (October 17), around 7.25 p.m. He noted that the timestamp on the video It’s incorrect.

Gabriel told Stomp: “In the video from my car camera, you will see that I was driving in the rightmost lane along the AYE. I was driving at a normal freeway speed of less than 90 km / h and an average of 85 km / h.
“Traffic was fairly medium to light and fairly clear in the far right lane, with heavy vehicles taking the left and middle lanes. Everything seemed as usual on a typical Saturday on the AYE towards Jurong.
“No one would have thought there would be a cyclist in the AYE!
“This cyclist appeared out of nowhere riding his bike in the far right lane along the AYE, almost causing a near fatal accident for himself and a motorcyclist.
“I am a regular road cyclist myself, but this incident of a cyclist on a major highway simply should not be tolerated.
“His actions not only caused danger to himself and others, it could have ended up being fatal. He could have committed suicide and in case I could not deviate in time to avoid it, it would have caused unnecessary pain to me and my family.
“I can only imagine how fatal it would be for this rider. The anguish that would have caused my family and me is unimaginable if this rider had been killed!
“No police report has been made at this time.
“This video that I have uploaded to YouTube is my hope that the public, motorists and the cycling community are aware of how such stupid and inconsiderate behavior is simply undesirable and extremely dangerous.”
