TraceTogether is a must in offices, schools and shopping centers before December

SINGAPORE – Singapore will make the implementation and use of the TraceTogether (TT) app or token mandatory by December in a wide range of places, from workplaces, schools, healthcare facilities, retail stores to shopping malls.

In a press release on Tuesday (October 20), the Office of Digital Government and Smart Nation (Prime Minister’s Office) said that TT will progressively expand to more locations to allow resumption of activities on a larger scale.

Speaking at the multi-ministerial working group (MTF) on the COVID-19 press conference, Education Minister Lawrence Wong said that the higher acceptance rate and wide rollout of TT is key to the implementation of the reopening. of Phase 3, which revealed that it could start before the end of the year.

While some 2.5 million people, or about 45 percent of the population, have already signed up for TT, authorities are targeting 70 percent. “We also want to implement more TT only safe entry controls … we start with cinemas, we will do restaurants, malls, all these types of popular places, our goal is to have them as TT only secure entry.”

He added: “So when we have a higher TraceTogether acceptance rate and a broader deployment of TT-only secure entry, I think those conditions will help us get into Phase 3.”

With the mandatory introduction of TT at various locations, on-site QR code scanning with a camera phone, use of mobile SingPass for secure check-in (SE), and personal ID scanning will be disabled at affected locations .

The existing secure entry method is allowed only if a person uses the TT app to scan the QR code on the site, or lets the entry staff at the site scan the QR code on their TT token.

Since August, TT has been tested in select locations where people are likely to be in close contact for extended periods or where human trafficking is high.

From now until mid-November, TT will be implemented in venues with activities that involve larger groups of people. These include live performances, business events, places of worship that hold congregational worship services, and others with more than 100 people, and cinemas.

For those who are unable or prefer not to download the TT app, TT tokens are now available for collection at 38 Community Centers / Clubs (CCs) in Singapore. At the end of November, TT tokens will be available in the 108 CCs on the island.
