Singapore’s charcoal grill brand, Garang Grill, is reopening in New Ubin Village, joining New Ubin Seafood and UbinEats in their new location, after nearly a year since its closure.
Once promised to be a three-month pop-up restaurant in 2017, Garang Grill’s bold charcoal flavors kept the brand popular with diners. Instead of only opening for three months, the pop-up restaurant ceased operations in December 2019, nearly three years after opening on Swan Lake Avenue.
New Ubin Seafood head chef Cole Soo is re-heading Garang Grill, who started the group with the charcoal grill brand in 2017.
Alongside the move to the new location is also a S $ 16,000 charcoal grill oven that is famous for its ability to deliver the intense heat of primary charcoal flames in a closed oven, providing the correct amount of charcoal in the Various meats available on the menu.
“Moving Garang Grill to New Ubin Village has always been the plan since we moved to Tampines. Our plans were slightly thwarted by the circuit breaker, but the move makes more sense than ever today. This allows us to consolidate our assets, ”shares SM Pang, co-founder and COO of New Ubin Seafood.
A review of their menu sees Garang Grill introducing a new condensed selection that focuses on select cuts of meats that are promised to cook with the same bold flavors that diners remembered. The new cafe setting at New Ubin Village is said to give it the truly Singaporean touch.
Try the BBQ Pork Belly (S $ 21), a flavorful pork belly slathered with Cajun spices and grilled to perfection, served with mashed sweet potatoes and Garang salad, or LA Galbi Korean-style beef (S $ 18) , marinated in a sweet and flavorful ganjang sauce and grilled until tender. You can also get other cuts of meat and dishes like Argentine tenderloin (S $ 38), Crispy pork dewlap (S $ 12), Classic Carbonara (S $ 12), and more.
