David de Gea: 7/10
You may have been able to do more on the goal itself. He had a great palm save in the second half, but overall there isn’t much to do.
Aaron Wan-Bissaka: 8/10
He kept Allan Saint-Maximin quiet for 90 minutes and at the same time went up and down the field very well. Rightly rewarded with his first goal for the club.
Victor Lindelöf: 7/10
Overall, a good day at the office.
Harry Maguire: 9/10
He had the great performance he needed. He kept the defense organized, advanced well and achieved a draw when United needed him.
Luke Shaw: 7/10
I was unlucky with the own goal, but he more than made up for it with a great game in the next 88 minutes.
Scott McTominay: 8/10
He entered the last three to play as a right central, the same role that he has been playing for Scotland, with great effectiveness. He broke many Newcastle counterattacks. His best match in quite some time.
Fred: 5/10
Playing as the more advanced of the two midfielders is not his game and he had problems.
Dan James: 5/10
It wasn’t bad, it wasn’t great. He ate 76 minutes to keep other players’ legs fresh for the brutal schedule ahead.
Juan Mata: 9/10
Another fantastic display from Mata. He fell in midfield allowing Wan-Bissaka to advance and helped link the defense with Bruno Fernandes, allowing Bruno to be dangerous.
Bruno Fernandes: 9/10
He was way behind to finally miss a penalty, luckily knocking it out of the way in a 4-1 game in which he personally made up for it. He moved to the left wing after the introduction of Van de Beek and possibly got even more dangerous. Easily his best performance of the season.
Marcus Rashford: 8/10
Playing like number 9 for the first time in about a year. Linkup’s game was fantastic. Good knowledge to make a late run behind your target.
Paul Pogba: 6/10
Best game of the season. It made a United, which was already dangerous, more dangerous. Newcastle was not shot after Pogba’s introduction.
Donny van de Beek: 7/10
Another positive performance from the Dutchman has fans wondering why he has yet to start in the Premier League. I imagine that he will start against one of PSG or Chelsea.
Nemanja Matic: N / A
He got to kill time in the end and I did that.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer: 8/10
I don’t think there’s a single United fan who didn’t question the starting XI when team news broke, but overall it worked. Given the upcoming schedule, this was always the game to rotate the team. Even with a lot of pressure on him to win this game, he stuck to his plan and rotated the team. I got the necessary response after the loss to Tottenham and kept the players fresh for the next matches against PSG and Chelsea.
