Dean Smith says Aston Villa must “savor” the moment after they extended their record as the only team with a 100 percent record in the Premier League this season.
After beating champion Liverpool 7-2 in their extraordinary last match before the international break, Villa left him late to claim a 1-0 win over Leicester.
Ross Barkley scored for the second straight game early in his career at Villa to ensure his loan club moves second in the table, behind an Everton team that has played one more game.
And Smith isn’t surprised by the impact the loaned Chelsea midfielder is having so far.
“We’ve seen Ross Barkley do that enough times for Everton and Chelsea so we’re glad he did it for us today,” he said.
“It was easy if it started today. He had a knock to the knee but a great goal and a true fighting performance from the entire team.
“I thought they started better than us to be honest. I thought they were playing through us too easily but said I thought we defended well in our box and that’s another clean sheet. They were two good teams ”.

Smith reacts to a ‘very good start’
town narrowly avoided relegation last season, but has been on fire in the formative weeks of the new season.
And Smith is reveling in the moment, but will soon be concentrating on his next game, against Leeds United.
“It’s a really good start,” he enthused. “To come here and get the victory, this is a really good team.
“Everyone has had a short preseason. There are a lot of tired legs but they are slowly but surely entering the season.
“We are just looking at the next game. We will savor what we are doing right now and we look forward to the Leeds game. “
