Former Manchester United forward Louis Saha has urged the club’s owners to support coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, as he heads into a week that could make his position untenable.
After a 6-1 loss at home to Tottenham last time, Solskjaer he’s under increasing pressure heading into Saturday’s game in Newcastle.
Difficult games keep coming. After that, United face another litmus test, this time in the Champions League. His campaign begins with a gigantic task against last season’s finalist Paris Saint-Germain in France on Tuesday.
Robbie Savage is one of those experts who claims that Solskjaer could soon lose his job if the results don’t improve..
However, with voices of concern growing louder, Solskjaer’s former United teammate Saha insists this is not the time for the club to fire another manager.
“We are quick to pass judgment on Ole and that is wrong after three games this season,” Saha told TEAMtalk in a BT sport event.
“You remember when he got the job. They were all convinced that they had to give it a chance after they defeated PSG in the Champions League in early 2019. They were playing great football.
“I played Ole and you might say I’m biased when I defend him. But I think we shouldn’t forget the really visible improvements we have seen at United in the last year.
“Now things are going differently. But it is the beginning of the season and you have to understand why it is not perfect at the moment.
“You cannot forget everything that has happened in the last year and fire another manager just because he had a bad start to the season.
“This is not an easy job. It’s tough being a Manchester United manager and living up to the expectations that came with the job.
But getting rid of a coach after three or four games of the season is not the way to go. Changing managers every year or after a couple of negative results doesn’t work. “

Saha thinks winning at Newcastle could change luck
Saha believes that a United victory in Newcastle could transform the atmosphere around the club in an instant.
He also believes that poor performances in the first month of the season may be due to a shorter preseason.
“Right now, I feel like there is a lack of energy in the team,” he added. “That may be because the players did not have much preseason and are directly in the games. But I think that team can still be a threat this season. There is a lot of talent in the dressing room.
“Remember what the environment was like before Ole got this job. Some players tried to leave, others did not sign contracts because the atmosphere in the club was very bad. That changed last season and that was because of Ole. People tend to forget this.
“There may be coaches who have won more, but I still feel like Ole can do a great job for United.”
