168 Suspects Arrested in Island-wide CNB Drug Bust

SINGAPORE: A total of 168 suspected drug offenders were arrested during a two-week island-wide operation that ended on Friday (October 16), the Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB) said.

Agents seized approximately 433 g of ice, approximately 303 g of heroin, approximately 561 g of cannabis, approximately 1 g of ketamine, and approximately 61 g of new psychoactive substances.

The loot also included 19 ecstasy tablets, 19 Erimin-5 tablets, 12 bottles of cannabis vaporizer cartridges, eight bottles of black liquid believed to contain opium, and a bottle of liquid believed to contain gamma-hydroxybutyrate ( GHB).

The drugs are estimated to be worth S $ 163,000, CNB said.

He added that the island-wide operation covered areas such as Ang Mo Kio, Bukit Merah, Woodlands, Hougang and Chai Chee.

THREE ARRESTED IN YISHUN

In one case, three Singaporeans aged 31, 19 and 17 were arrested in a unit at 51 Yishun Street.

“As the occupants of the unit denied entry to the officers despite repeated identification of the officers, they had to be forced to enter,” CNB said in a press release.

The 31-year-old woman’s three-year-old daughter was also in the unit, the agency said, adding that the girl has been taken into the custody of a close relative.

A package containing approximately 0.3 g of ice was also seized from the unit.

THREE ARRESTED ON JINTAN ROAD

In another case, two foreign nationals, women aged 43 and 39, were arrested when CNB agents raided a residential unit in the vicinity of Jalan Jintan in the Orchard Road area.

A 55-year-old Singaporean man who later entered the unit was also arrested for alleged drug-related activities.

Eight packs containing approximately 28 g of ice and two packs containing approximately 3 g of cannabis were recovered.

Cash worth S $ 4,462 and various drug paraphernalia were also seized, CNB said.

Investigations into the drug-related activities of all the suspects are ongoing.
