SINGAPORE – A 13-year-old boy and a 10-year-old girl are the two new cases of Covid-19 in the community reported by the Ministry of Health (MOH) on Wednesday (October 14).

Both patients are students at the school and had last been to their respective schools on October 2. Both were quarantined since October 3, and samples were taken that day, but they tested negative, the Health Ministry said in a statement Wednesday night.

Both developed symptoms later during their quarantine and subsequently tested positive on October 13.

There were no new local cases in the workers’ bedrooms on Wednesday, the Health Ministry said. This was the second day in a row that no new cases were reported in bedrooms.

On Wednesday morning, Education Minister Lawrence Wong warned against complacency, saying Singapore would likely see new cases.

In a Facebook post, Mr. Wong, who co-chairs the multi-ministry task force addressing Covid-19, acknowledged the fatigue that the current measures have caused, but reiterated that “the virus has not been eradicated,” and He added that it continues to circulate in our community. “

“We still have to keep our guard up and be very disciplined in complying with all necessary safeguards. That is the mindset that will allow us to continue on this path of progressive reopening in a safe and sustainable manner,” he said.

Imported cases made up the remaining three of the five new coronavirus cases announced Wednesday.

They were a Singaporean returning from the UK, a short-term visitor pass holder returning from Russia and a student pass holder returning from India.

All imported cases were placed on stay-at-home notices upon arrival in Singapore. They tested positive while delivering their notices to specialized facilities.

Hi Five, an Indian Muslim food establishment in the Rochor area, was the only new location to be added to a list of places visited by infectious Covid-19 patients on Wednesday.

The Ministry of Health provides the list of places that these patients visited for at least 30 minutes and the hours they visited so that people who were in those places monitor their health closely for two weeks from the date of their visit.

The full list of locations and hours can be found on the gov.sg website.

The ministry has said that close contacts would have already been reported and that there is no need to avoid these places as they would have been cleaned up if necessary.

The average number of daily new cases in the community in a week has decreased from one case per day two weeks ago to less than one per day in the last week.

The number of unrelated cases in the community in a week has also decreased from a daily average of one case per day to none in the same period.

With 12 cases discharged on Wednesday, 57,737 patients have made a full recovery from the disease.

A total of 39 patients remain in the hospital, none in intensive care, while 70 recover in community facilities.

Singapore has had 28 deaths from Covid-19 complications, while 15 who tested positive have died from other causes.
