SINGAPORE – Police arrested a 37-year-old woman for stealing Budget 2020 grocery coupons from mailboxes in a HDB block along Lorong 7 Toa Payoh on Sunday (October 11).

In a statement Wednesday, police said they are investigating similar incidents elsewhere.

The police recommended to those eligible for the coupons to collect them as soon as possible and to ensure that their mailboxes are protected at all times.

“If you suspect your coupons have been stolen, make a police report immediately and contact the Grocery Voucher hotline at 1800-2222-888 to request that your coupons be voided and replaced,” police said.

Voided vouchers cannot be redeemed. Members of the public are also advised to call the police immediately if they see suspicious people loitering near mailboxes.

The maximum punishment for theft is three years in jail and a fine.
