PETALING JAYA – Malaysian opposition leaders Lim Guan Eng and Mohamad Sabu confirmed that they were summoned to meet the King in separate hearings, but said the meetings have now been postponed.

Lim, DAP Secretary General and Mohamad Sabu, President of Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah) said in a press release on Wednesday (October 14) that they were initially scheduled to meet with Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah. in Istana. “However, yesterday the senior private secretary of His Royal Highness informed us that both sessions before His Majesty have been postponed,” they said.

The royal house comptroller said Istana Negara was in a “semi-closure” in accordance with movement restrictions imposed in the Klang Valley on Wednesday, but it is unclear if that was the reason the meetings were postponed. .

It is understood that Lim and Mohamad Sabu were summoned by the Palace after Sultan Abdullah held an audience on Tuesday with another opposition leader, PKR President Anwar Ibrahim, who claimed to have presented the King with evidence from 120 MPs that they endorse him, in 222 – Seat to Parliament to replace Muhyiddin Yassin as Prime Minister.

Anwar did not reveal a list of his sponsors.

Umno veteran Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah was also seen entering the Palace after Anwar left on Tuesday.

Lim and Mat Sabu, both of Anwar’s partners in the Pakatan Harapan coalition, have said that they would support Anwar if he really has the numbers to form the government.

But Lim also expressed displeasure at working with Umno, Malaysia’s largest ruling party, whose MPs were speculated to be among those who supported Anwar’s attempt to overthrow Muhyiddin.

The National Palace said that while Anwar said how many lawmakers are behind him, “he did not present a list of the names of the deputies to support his claim.”

Meanwhile, Umno President Ahmad Zahid Hamidi was scheduled for an audience with Sultan Abdullah on Thursday afternoon at 5 pm, the party’s chief information officer, Ahmad Maslan, said Tuesday night.

Ahmad Maslan also said the party was considering a withdrawal from Perikatan Nasional, Malaysia’s ruling alliance, unless it sets new terms for cooperation.

MIC, an ally of Umno in Barisan Nasional, said his party chief, SA Vigneswaran, was also scheduled to meet with the king on Thursday, although he was skeptical of Anwar’s plan.
