Residents are advised to remove the pork belly hanging outside the Jurong West window: City Hall

A household that left the meat out to dry outside its window in Jurong West was advised to remove the items, the city council told Stomp.

Stomper S, resident of Jurong West Street 61 (exact location censored), saw the slabs of meat on Sunday (October 11).

Sharing photos with Stomp, S said, “My neighbors and I are speechless. If you have neighbors like them, how would you feel? I think you will get mad.”

“Are they selling homemade bacon? This is ridiculous, selfish and unsanitary.”

S told Stomp that while this was unusual, he was irritated by the incident and added: “My neighborhood has reported this to the city council.”

S also wrote about the incident on Facebook, where her post has since garnered more than 1,800 shares and nearly 400 comments.

In response to an inquiry from Stomp, the West Coast City Council said it is aware of the matter.

“Our staff have approached the unit and advised them to remove the items,” he added.

“For the benefit of the health and hygiene of our residents, we would like to remind residents not to hang any food on the clothes rack.”

This is not the first time a resident has left meat to dry outside their HDB windows. Stomp reported similar incidents in Yishun and Woodlands in early March and April, respectively.

In both cases, Stompers complained of a foul odor coming from the meat that his neighbors had hung outside their windows.
