SINGAPORE – Four new coronavirus cases were confirmed as of Tuesday noon (October 13), bringing Singapore’s total to 57,884.

All are imported cases, which were placed on stay-at-home notices upon arrival in Singapore, the Ministry of Health (MINSA) said on Tuesday.

There were no new local cases in the community or in workers’ bedrooms. This was the first time since March 25 that no new cases were reported in bedrooms.

More details will be announced Tuesday night.

On Monday, a 64-year-old man, who had a history of hypertension, died of complications due to Covid-19, the Health Ministry said.

The permanent resident was the 28th patient to die from the virus here, nearly three months since the last Covid-19-related death.

He had been working in India since last December, and was put on a stay-at-home notice when he returned to Singapore on September 23.

He was confirmed to have the coronavirus infection on October 4.

Singapore General Hospital has contacted her family and is providing assistance.

Previously, the last patient to die here from complications related to Covid-19 was a 62-year-old man on July 14.

Four new cases of coronavirus were reported on Monday.

They included a community case, which is a family member of previously confirmed cases, the Health Ministry said.

She had been identified as a contact for two other cases and had previously been quarantined.

All three cases arrived from India on September 16 and were posted on stay-at-home notices in a dedicated facility.

There were also two imported cases, including a permanent resident who returned to Singapore from the Philippines and a work pass holder who recently traveled to India and the United Arab Emirates.

Both had been placed on stay-at-home notices upon arrival in Singapore and were tested despite showing no symptoms.

A migrant worker living in a dormitory made up the remaining case confirmed Monday.

He had previously been identified as a contact for previous cases and had already been quarantined to prevent further transmission, the Health Ministry said.

He was examined during quarantine to determine his status, despite the fact that he was asymptomatic.

The Health Ministry also said that a group of dormitories at 9 Sungei Kadut Avenue has been closed as it has had no new cases linked to it for 28 days, or two incubation periods.

The average number of new daily cases in the community in a week has decreased from an average of one case per day in the previous week to an average of less than one per day in the last week.

The number of unrelated cases in the community has also decreased from an average of less than one case per day in the previous week to none in the last week.

With 23 cases discharged on Monday, 57,713 patients have fully recovered from the disease.

A total of 48 patients remained in the hospital Monday, none in intensive care, while 76 recovered in community facilities.

Fifteen people who tested positive for Covid-19 have died from other causes.

Globally, the virus outbreak, which began in December last year, has infected more than 37.2 million people. More than a million people have died.
