SINGAPORE – Married parents will receive a one-time grant of $ 3,000 for each Singaporean child born from October 1 to September 30, 2022 to help with parenting costs during the pandemic.

The Baby Support Grant will supplement the existing Baby Voucher Cash Gift of up to $ 10,000 and is a supplement to the existing marriage and parenting package.

With this new grant, “parents will now receive up to $ 21,000 in cash and similar cash benefits for their first child and up to $ 35,000 for their fifth child + beyond,” said Prime Minister Indranee Rajah, who announced the grant. on Friday (October 9) on Facebook.

The Baby Support Grant will be deposited as of April 1, 2021 into the same bank account parents use to receive the existing Baby Bonus cash gift.

“We hope this helps even more with parenting costs during these uncertain times,” Indranee said.

“We would like to encourage everyone, including employers, businesses, community groups, family and friends, to support a Singapore that is #MadeForFamililes.”

About 30 percent of the more than 41,000 respondents said they are likely to delay marriage or have a child later in a survey conducted from June to July.

The survey was commissioned by the National Population and Talent Division and the Ministry of Social and Family Development, who jointly administer the Baby Support Grant.

Among those married, 60 percent said they would delay having a child due to the uncertainty caused by the pandemic.

Among those who are single and are engaged or serious dating, 80 percent said they would delay getting married for the same reason.
