SINGAPORE – 10 new coronavirus cases were confirmed at noon on Sunday (October 11), bringing Singapore’s total to 57,876.

There were seven imported cases that had been listed on stay-at-home notices upon arrival in Singapore.

No community cases were announced on Sunday, the Health Ministry (MINSA) said.

More details will be announced Sunday night.

On Saturday, Singapore confirmed seven new coronavirus cases, including one in the community for the first time in four days.

The only case from the community was a permanent resident who is a family member of two previously confirmed imported cases, the Health Ministry said.

His family members had arrived from Indonesia on September 25 and were granted permission to deliver their stay-at-home notices as one is a two-month-old baby, the ministry added.

The new case had been placed on a stay-at-home notice due to its exposure to them and developed symptoms during quarantine. He later tested positive for Covid-19.

The other new patients announced on Saturday included a locally transmitted case in a worker’s bedroom, as well as five imported cases that were placed on stay-at-home notices or isolated upon arrival in Singapore.

The asymptomatic case in the bedroom was detected through routine biweekly tests, the Health Ministry said.

Of the imported cases, one was a permanent resident who returned from Belarus and another was a Singaporean citizen who returned from Qatar.

Another was a work pass holder who had arrived from France, while the remaining two were seafarers who came to Singapore from the Philippines to board a ship docked here.

They were taken directly from the airport to the ship in a dedicated vehicle and did not subsequently abandon ship, the Health Ministry said.

All imported cases were placed on 14-day stay-at-home notices upon arrival in Singapore and tested positive despite being asymptomatic.

Takashimaya in Ngee Ann City, Don Don Donki in Square 2 @ Novena, Joeun Salon in Far East Plaza and Kushikatsu Tanaka restaurant in Merchant Court were also added on Saturday to the list of places visited by patients infected with Covid-19.

The Ministry of Health provides the list of places that Covid-19 infected patients visited for at least 30 minutes so that the people who were there closely monitor their health for two weeks from the date of their visit.

The full list of locations and hours can be found here.

The ministry has said that close contacts would have already been reported and that there is no need to avoid these places as they would have been cleaned if necessary.

The number of new cases in the community has remained stable at an average of one case per day in the past two weeks, the Health Ministry said.

The number of unrelated cases in the community has also remained stable at an average of less than one case per day during the same period.

Singapore has had 27 deaths from Covid-19 complications, while 15 who tested positive have died from other causes.

Globally, the virus outbreak, which started in December last year, has infected around 36.8 million people. More than 1.06 million people have died.
