SINGAPORE – Drugs worth an estimated $ 1.2 million have been seized and 11 people, including four women, arrested in separate operations conducted by the Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB).
Cash was also recovered for $ 15,784.
The CNB said in a statement on Friday (October 9) that five people were captured on Wednesday night near Jalan Selamat near Kembangan.
Two of them, a 26-year-old Singaporean and a foreigner of the same age, were arrested first and officers recovered eight packages containing approximately 403 g of ice and 20 ecstasy tablets from a vehicle driven by the man.
Later, 146 g of ice and 300 tablets of Erimin-5 were recovered from the man’s hiding place nearby.
Three other Singaporeans, two men aged 26 and 24 and a woman aged 24, were arrested in the same unit. Before the arrests, a package was believed to have been discarded from the unit’s window, CNB said. Subsequently, officers recovered the package containing approximately 545 g of ice.
A search was conducted in the room where the three suspected drug offenders were arrested and a total of about 298g of ice, about 371g of cannabis and 31 ecstasy tablets were seized, CNB said.
Cash for $ 13,780 was recovered.
The second 26-year-old man was also taken to a vehicle where four other packages containing about 20 g of ice were recovered.
In a follow-up operation Thursday morning, CNB officers raided a residential unit in the vicinity of Lorong Limau in Whampoa and arrested a 47-year-old Singaporean man and a 20-year-old foreigner.
A total of approximately 599 g of ice, approximately 0.2 g of cannabis, approximately 0.2 g of ketamine, 14 ecstasy tablets, and 182 Erimin-5 tablets were recovered.
Later that afternoon, a 54-year-old Singaporean man was arrested near 86 Tampines Street. Eight Erimin-5 tablets were recovered.
CNB agents also raided a unit near Aljunied Crescent and arrested a 34-year-old Singaporean man and a 28-year-old foreign national. A total of 12 packages containing approximately 423 g of ice, approximately 45 g of cannabis, 10 ecstasy tablets, and 64 Erimin-5 tablets were seized.
About 1,060 g of ice and about 398 g of ketamine were later found in the storage compartment of a bicycle belonging to the 34-year-old man.
The 54- and 34-year-old men are believed to be related to the two previously detained in nearby Lorong Limau, the CNB said.
On Thursday night, CNB agents arrested a 28-year-old Singaporean man in a hotel room near Upper Weld Road.
The drugs recovered included a heroin straw weighing approximately 0.3 g, approximately 157 g of ice, approximately 265 g of heroin, approximately 494 g of cannabis, an ecstasy tablet, and an Erimin-5 tablet.
Cash worth $ 2,004 and various drug paraphernalia were also recovered from the hotel room.
The total amount of 3,651 g of ice seized is enough to fuel the addiction of about 2,100 abusers for a week, CNB said. Investigations continue.
