SINGAPORE – The Ministry of Health (MOH) confirmed 11 new cases of COVID-19 in Singapore as of Tuesday (October 6), bringing the country’s total to 57,830.
The 11 new cases are asymptomatic and proactively detected, the Health Ministry said.
Of these, two, both permanent residents, are in the community, while five reside in dormitories for foreign workers.
Four are imported cases, including a 12-year-old boy from Japan and an 11-year-old public relations woman from India. All imported cases had been listed on the 14-day stay-at-home notice upon arrival here and were tested while serving the notice at specialized facilities.
Both cases in the community had been identified as household contacts of previously confirmed cases and were quarantined earlier.
Cases 57970 – a seven-year-old student at a private school – and 57971 – a 42-year-old housewife – were quarantined on October 3 and examined, but they had not left their home since September 28.
Among the five cases residing in dormitories, one had previously been identified as a previous case contact and had already been quarantined and tested. The remaining four cases were detected by surveillance tests.
Overall, 36% of new cases have no established links.
MINSA pointed out that the number of new cases in the community has increased from an average of one case per day in the previous week to an average of two cases in the last week.
The ministry added that the number of unrelated cases in the community has remained stable at an average of less than one case per day in the past two weeks.
Of Singapore’s COVID-19 count, 54,471, or 94.2 percent, are foreign workers living in dormitories.
Several new venues were added to the list of public places visited by COVID-19 cases while infectious in the community from September 22 to October 1, including Universal Studios Singapore, Hard Rock Cafe at Resorts World Sentosa, IKEA Tampines, Giant Hypermarket – Tampines, The Rouge Beauty Salon at 30 Bayshore Road, BearyFun Gym @ Katong Swimming Complex, and newEcon – Top Choice Supermarket at 84 Bayshore Road.

With 15 more patients discharged from hospitals or community isolation facilities on Tuesday, 57,612 cases, or 99.6 percent of the total, have fully recovered from the infection.
Most of the 43 hospitalized cases are stable or improving, while one is in critical condition in the intensive care unit.
A total of 148 patients with mild symptoms or who are clinically well but still test positive are isolated and cared for in community facilities.
In addition to 27 patients who died from complications of COVID-19, another 15 who tested positive for the virus were determined to have died from unrelated causes, including three whose deaths were attributed to a heart attack and another four whose deaths were attributed to coronary heart disease. . heart disease.
