$ 133.80 may be a small amount for some, but not for a gas station employee, who said they made him pay for a customer’s mistake.
The amount was allegedly deducted from the assistant’s salary after a Shell Upper Bukit Timah PIE customer left without paying for his gas, a concerned passerby said in a Facebook post on Monday (October 5).
The passerby had seen the attendant looking “dejected” while filling up her gasoline that day, she recounted in the mail that it has since been withdrawn.
Asking about the man, who remains unidentified, she learned that his payment was reportedly taken from him after an incident in September in which he failed to realize that a driver in a black Lexus had not made the payment. before leaving the gas station.
The driver appeared to pay by swiping his Shell card, the assistant said. However, he was chatting with the driver at the time and did not realize that the transaction had not gone through.
Sharing the driver’s license plate number, which the attendant had written down on a piece of cardboard, he asked him to introduce himself as the money “meant a lot” to the attendant.
“Please share this message and help take care of this driver and pass it on. Be nice and do not harass him as it is not my intention to go on a witch hunt,” he wrote.
But in an unexpected twist, netizens quickly realized that the license plate number did not exist: A search of the One Motoring website of the Land Transportation Authority revealed that “no record was found” for that license number in particular.
Addressing the incident in a statement provided to Mothership, Shell confirmed that the incident took place on September 18 at 6.56 pm, adding that it was “committed to resolving this matter as soon as possible.”
“In cases like this, we follow a set of internal procedures to investigate and contact the customer in question.”
The oil and gas company added that it would not comment further to respect customer and attendee privacy.
However, his statement did not confirm or deny the allegations that the assistant had his pay reduced. Shell has yet to respond to AsiaOne’s attempts for further clarification.
