Manchester United set a deadline after probing for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s replacement, while Memphis Depay is blaming his former club after missing a move to Barcelona, according to transfer rumors on Tuesday.
UNITED RETURN TO POCHETTINO
United manchester have reportedly sounded Mauricio Pochettino about him replacing Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as coach.
According to a report by Daily star High-level figures from the club have contacted the Pochettino camp. The report adds that the Argentine is eager to make United his next job as he looks to return to management.
Solskjaer appears to be on borrowed time at United after a dismal start to the new season. That beginning got even more chaotic after the 6-1 home loss to Tottenham on Sunday.
It is understood that United Executive Vice President Ed Woodward is not prepared to fire the Norwegian in the current international hiatus.
But he wants to see a dramatic improvement in performances and results when the Premier League is back on track.
If that doesn’t happen, Woodward could undo Solskjaer’s reign in November and turn to former Tottenham boss Pochettino.
Woodward remains a huge fan of Pochettino, who has been out of work since the Spurs fired him last November.
The 48-year-old is said to have turned down a number of jobs since leaving Tottenham, including Barcelona twice, while waiting for the right opportunity.
The report adds that United were a perfect fit and Pochettino is confident that he can take up the challenge of returning the Red Devils to their former glories.
Although Woodward will be reluctant to fire Solskjaer, he fears he will have no other option if the team’s decline worsens.
United currently languish in 16th place in the table after three points from their three league games. They have also lost their first two home games of a league campaign for the fifth time in club history.
